If you’re looking for the I Remember Clifford Lead Sheet, you’ve most definitely come to the right place!
This song is written by Benny Golsen, and it was written for trumpeter Clifford Brown, in memory of him. Clifford died in a car crash at age 25.
The original recording was done in 1957.
I’ve never played and performed the I Remember Clifford Lead Sheet myself, but also, it has never crossed my path. During my studies at the conservatory and berklee college of music, and even whilst performing jazz in New York and Los Angeles, I have never been in a position to perform it.
I have however heard one other person perform it.
Unlike some of the most favorite jazz standards, this one is popular, but not that popular.
